Pastor’s Corner September 2018:
Psalm 100 from Psalms for Praying by Nan Merrill
Sing a joyful noise to the Beloved, all peoples of the earth!
Serve Love with a glad heart!
Join hands in the great Dance of Life!
Know that the Beloved of your heart is the Divine Presence!
Love created us, and we belong to the Most High;
We are born to be loving expressions of the Creator’s Divine Plan.
Open the gates of your heart with gratitude and
enter Love’s court with praise!
Give thanks to the Beloved and bless Love’s holy Name!
For Love is of God, and lives in your heart forever,
With faith, truth, and joy, now and in all that is to come.
Who among us doesn’t seek the warmth and security of belonging? It’s a quality that makes commitment attractive. We pursue belonging through marriage and family structures and through groups we belong to. Perhaps the greatest opportunity to experience belonging is within the church community because ultimately, we were created to belong to the One who created life itself and waits for us beyond our final hour.
It’s that time of year when we re-examine our commitments and choices for the coming year. It’s a time to be aware of the mystery of the passing of time and the importance of our choices of how we use the time we are given on earth.
We belong to God. Let us seek God’s wisdom as we make our plans and commitments that we may be “loving expressions” of God’s desires for us and for our world. Aware of God’s providence and love helps us to make good decisions about how we will spend the precious days of our lives on earth.
Wishing you a blessed autumn,
