So Abram went, as the Lord had told him…Genesis 12:4a
Abram, soon to be renamed Abraham, left his home and set out on a long road to the unknown. His sole motivation was his faith, his conviction was that he could never travel beyond the reach and care of his God. Do we share that conviction? We are also setting out on a journey, the journey of Advent, in what is a totally unique time. There is very little that is “normal” in these times of the pandemic. So how do we go on this journey in ways that are faithful? How do we remember that God is with us on this journey?
As we journey into uncharted territory, can we remember that we are God’s people, that God sent Jesus to free us from our sins and invites us to be a part of God’s family forever?
God’s love came down to earth at Christmas. As we begin our Advent journey let us take some time to remember who and whose we are. We are God’s people and we belong to God. Will you walk in faith, hope, love, and peace during this holy season?
We cannot see the future, but we can know the God is with us every step of the way. May we walk in faith with God.
May your Advent season be blessed as you walk toward the joy of Christmas.
